I will be studying Romansch this summer when we will live in a village near Chur (Switzerland’s oldest city).

Wenn ich Deutsch spreche, bekomme ich Kopfschmerzen und Halsschmerzen.

When I speak German I get headaches and a sore throat.

Romansch is a lyrical language, spoken by the hillbillies en canton Grisons, aka Graubünden.

I’m glad we aren’t moving to Appenzell. I would probably get into deep doo-doo there for political reasons:

Today is draft day, April 25, 2024. My first ‘auto-save’ date of this is on June 1, 2022. 1 year, 10 months, and 24 days ago. I’d stumbled upon the cute frog in a swimsuit on Reddit.

I wrote most of the text on January 13, 2022, and included the subtitle “Countdown to Switzerland. Five months”.

Then, the last leg of our flight, from London to Zurich was cancelled by British Airways. 😭One of us decided to wait for another time. The other one did have a vote, but it was thrown out.

Now the countdown is 1 month and 25 days.

I hope I’m not jinxing this. . .
